Scott DeLoera's reenlistment.

Each month, we feature an employee and veteran who proudly served in the US Armed Forces and honor them by highlighting their service and VMSI employment. Scott DeLoera, currently working as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on our NOAA contract, is December’s VetSpot!

Name: Scott DeLoera
Rank: Staff Sergeant
Branch: US Air Force
Years of Service: 10 years
Awards/Medals: Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two Service Stars

During his tenure in the Air Force, Scott was a Staff Sargent and Contracting Officer (CO). He originally joined the Air Force to learn a commercially transferrable trade, and his prior duties as a CO prepared him for the fantastic service he currently provides our NOAA customer. Scott has a family history of military service, with his father serving more than 20 years in the Army.

Scott thoroughly enjoyed being stationed in Guam for three years. Asked what he enjoyed most about his years in service, Scott was quick to point out the immense job satisfaction he received while being deployed. Equally as memorable was the time he was invited to the Pentagon to receive a commendation medal from Major General (MG) Masiello for his work on the Air Force’s next generation deployed contract writing system.

To transition from the Air Force to civilian life, Scott adhered to three simple but useful premises: eat healthy, get in plenty of exercise, and create and stick to a daily routine.

Scott currently supports the Satellite and Information Acquisition Division of NOAA, working on the acquisition of a ‘first-of-its-kind’ Radio Frequency Interference Monitoring System. Not only is this truly interesting work, it promises to be helpful across a number of applications. Thanks, Scott, for all you’ve done and all you continue to do for your country and for VMSI! We salute you!
