VMSI recently donated $2,500 to Touching Heart, a local Northern Virginia foundation started by Helen Yi and her daughter, Taylor. This incredible organization is built on the simple belief that “our children will shape the future of our world” and we are obligated to assist in every way possible. We have a responsibility to invest in their growth and understanding of altruism in order to create a kinder tomorrow.

In 2014, Touching Heart made a significant impact in the lives of Northern Virginia children by providing backpacks, school supplies, and fun activities to kids of all ages within the Fairfax County foster care system. Touching Heart hosts one or two events each month to sustain their presence in the community. These events vary from golf tournaments to funding sack lunches for those in transitional housing (through the Lunches of Love program) to conducting Joy of Giving Workshops in the hopes of ‘inspiring kids to experience the joy of giving’!

This unique organization is making waves in the Northern Virginia area by showing younger generations the powerful impact they can have by helping those in need. To learn more about the programs Touching Heart hosts or how you can contribute to their mission, visit their website here!
