This holiday weekend, VMSI is taking a few moments to remember the true meaning behind the day we now call Veterans Day and to thank all veterans and their families for their service.

At 11:00 a.m., November 11, 1918, fighting between the Allied Forces and Germany came to a halt, putting an end to World War 1. A year later Armistice Day came into being to remember those who died in service, and to give thanks for the peace that came with the end of the war. In 1954, the name of the holiday was changed to Veterans Day, and the day not only served as a reminder of those who gave their life in service to this country, but also recognized the men and women who continue to serve across all military branches today.

As we approach the holiday weekend, we ask that you take a few moments to give thanks for the personal sacrifices our servicemen and servicewomen have made – and continue to make today. VMSI would like to acknowledge the contributions of our military and give thanks for their dedication to our nation. This Veteran’s Day, we salute you!
